Sales of existing homes declined in 28 states across the country in the 2006 second quarter, but North Carolina wasn't one of them.
Existing home sales actually climbed 11 percent in North Carolina in the 2006 second quarter compared to the same period a year earlier, according to data released by the National Association of Realtors.
North Carolina was one of 19 states across the country to enjoy a second-quarter increase in existing-home sales. Alaska led that group, posting a 48.6 percent increase in the 2006 second quarter.
In the South, 2006 second-quarter existing-home sales fell about 4.2 percent. Nationwide, sales of existing homes were down 7 percent for the same period.
